<intro>
It might be, it could be, it is! Another piece in the Cubs dugout is out for the season. After having one injury taken care of on Monday, another more severe injury took place on Thursday and now he is down for the count.

No, it is not what you think. A Cubs player caused this season ending injury with the assistance of a baseball bat in the Cubs dugout.

The victim that is out for the season is the Gatorade dispenser machine that was in the Cubs dugout.

Last Sunday, pitcher Ryan Dempster punched the machine after his bad outing and on Thursday, pitcher Carlos Zambrano violently took a bat to the machine after he was ejected from the game for arguing a call with the umpire.

Incredibly, a Cubs player was still able to dispense a drink for himself after the vicious attack. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking! Unlike some of the Cubs players this season.

The machine, which replaced the old water cooler that had quenched the thirst of Cubs players as far back as 1970, was called up after spring training and has only been with the Cubs this season. It only lasted two months in the majors. Such a shame that such a promising career is cut so short due to an injury. In addition, an injury caused by your own teammates.

It was brought into the Cubs dugout this season in order to increase advertising revenues through a sponsorship with Pepsi, who owns Gatorade.

The service technician, who was out twice last week to fix the machine after both the Dempster punch and the Zambrano bat destruction, will probably be happy the machine is officially out for the season. He was beginning to think he might be on call or need a more permanent residence at Wrigley Field the rest of the season.

While the technician said he did not see the Dempster punch, he saw the Zambrano incident on TV and instantly said, "I guess I know where I'll be tomorrow."

The Cubs tried to save the dispenser, but to no avail.

"That Gatorade thing keeps taking a beating," said Reed Johnson. "We'll get some Band-Aids on it tomorrow."

However, the Band-Aids did not do the trick and the much respected Gatorade machine is down for the count and done for the season.

</intro>
